Family Peer Specialist

Nickie was born and raised traveling the states as a military dependent and eventually settled in Texas. Nickie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Juvenile Justice and is actively pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology at Southern New Hampshire University. Throughout her lifetime, she has succumb to many different experiences leading her to be a vital source of resource information to those in need.

An active family program participant since 2019, Nickie discovered how Rise Recovery supports and recovers the whole family unit. Today she serves as a Family Recovery Support Peer Specialist for family members dealing with loved ones struggling with or recovering from alcohol and/or substance use. She believes that by providing a safe and non-judgmental zone, families can discover healthy habits to reset their relationships. Her recovery mascot is the giraffe because they teach us to stick our necks out, keep our heads up and keep moving forward.

Some of her favorite things to do are: spending time with family, enjoying the outdoors, fishing and DIY projects.
